Convocation Committee

The first UNIZULU Convocation Committee was elected in 1984 with the late Prof PC Luthuli as the first President. Subsequent presidents were Professor LM Magi, the late Jethro Ndlovu, Sisho Maphisa, Dr Simo Lushaba, Mpho Makwana, Vusi Mahaye and Advocate Simo Chamane. It is our role as the UNIZULU Convocation Office to keep alumni connected to its alma mater by facilitating projects and initiatives that will advance the institution’s academic trajectory and stakeholder partnerships in conjunction with its alumni, thereby fostering a greater network of growing professionals across sectors who will give back to the institution

The Convocation of UNIZULU consists of:

Facilitate liaison between the University and its former students and academic employees.

All persons, other than persons referred to in subparagraph (c), who immediately before the commencement of this Statute were members of the University Convocation.

All persons who have obtained a qualification from the University, as approved by Senate and Council

The Functions of the Convocation are to:

All persons who have obtained a qualification from the University, as approved by Senate and Council

Create networks and canvass support for the strategic objectives of the University.

Organise former students and academic staff members of the University with a view to facilitating representation of this constituency on appropriate governance structures.
